Dear Eastern Track & Cross Country Parents,
*Note this is posted to both track and XC groups on team app. This is a project that we share and would love to have families join us even if you are only involved with XC.

I want to personally invite you to a very important meeting Monday evening, February 5th at 6:00 pm in the Eastern High School Cafeteria. It is vital that we have each of you with us that evening as we consider a remarkable opportunity to break ground on our new track this June. However, this will only happen with your help.

Most of you know that for the past two years we have been raising funds for our new track, known as the 400 Meter Project. To date, all funds have come through generous individual donations, various fund raisers, and proceeds from annual athletic events. So far, we have raised over $110,000.

Our current estimates for the total project cost of the new track are just under $300,000. We anticipate raising an additional $40,000 this Spring through hosting the Eastern Relays, our annual 400 Meter Project Dinner on March 8th, and support from the City of Middletown and Louisville Metro Council.

Recent discussions with the Eastern Baseball Boosters Club have been encouraging. They described their successful efforts to finance two different baseball projects. Further conversations with our own Eastern High School administration are supportive and encouraging of our desire to finish our track funding through a similar mechanism.

What we will discuss on Monday, February 5th is the opportunity to finance the remaining $150,000 and thus, break ground on our new track as early as June of this year. The debt will be paid off by our annual athletic events and various fund raisers. Our most conservative estimates suggest these efforts will easily pay off the loan within five years.

With your support in doing this, we would thus be able to practice and compete on our brand new state of the art track as early as this Fall. Imagine having our sons and daughters competing proudly on our own track. Imagine the legacy we can leave behind to future Eagle athletes!

Please make plans to join us on February 5th. I welcome your feedback, and I sincerely hope you make every effort to be with us. This is not a decision we want to make without a large number of our families represented in the decision.

Sincerely,

Coach Mike Horan
