Greater American XC Festival

The Great American XC Festival is one of the largest and most competitive meets in the country. This will be a great test for our teams before we head into the postseason.

Attending athletes:

Costs:
• We will ask each athlete to cover $75 to help offset bus, food, hotels
• Athletes will likely have to cover a couple of meals on their own
• There will be some optional purchases (meet shirts, etc.)
• Parking is $10 at the meet for attending parents

No athlete should skip the trip because of expense. Please communicate if there is a financial hardship/need. We will ensure that no athletes miss this opportunity who have earned it.

Bring:
Athletes should not bring anything that would be disruptive or distracting to the mission of the team on this trip. If Coach Horan would not like it in your bag, don’t put it in your bag.

All athletes should have:
Large Water Bottle
Smaller bag for bus (snacks, homework, electronics) / Larger bag under bus (clothes, toiletries)
Running Attire prerace
New racing uniform
Snack food for bus
Breakfast food for Saturday Pre-race
Money for 3 meals (Lunch Sat., Dinner Sat. Lunch Sun.)
Nothing inappropriate

Expected Schedule
Friday 10/6
• 5:45am- Meet at Eastern
• 6:00am- Departure from Eastern
• 11:30am- Lunch Friday, Wytheville Subway (pre-order)
• 3-4:00pm- Arrival in Cary, NC between 3-4
• 3-5:00ish- Team Run- we will go directly to the park from the bus trip
• Return to hotel to clean up
• Team Dinner at the hotel
• Rest and prepare for domination.
Saturday 10/7
• 6:00am Breakfast at hotel- Note those in the earliest race need to eat before hotel breakfast will begin.
o Athletes may consider bringing some breakfast food that is typical race-day food. Right now we do not know the race schedule.
• Bring everything for race day down at 6am.
• Depart 6:20am for WakeMed Soccer Park (approximately 15 minutes)

• Sunday return trip, likely returning approximately 5:00pm
