https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-pxtsShtx_x4sugJobmp-qk4qTA3Pwf5X-CK1ZVW-q8/edit?usp=sharingAs we are planning to start our cross country conditioning soon, this document will serve as a welcome to new athletes and families and some important reminders for returning athletes.
Summer time is the best time of year to make a big jump forward. A solid summer can help athletes elevate themselves to new levels. A great summer includes running with great consistency (after a 1-2 week break from track season) all summer long.
We train together throughout the summer so that athletes have accountability and camaraderie throughout the summer. The only period where we will not meet is the KHSAA
Dead Period from June 25-July 9 every year.
How to Join Eastern XC: How to join the Eastern Cross Country Team Complete the linked checklist before joining.
Summer Warrior Program: Summer Warrior Program 2025 We incentivize athletes to participate all summer long with our Summer Warrior Program. The goal is to reward those who show up and work hard all summer. This year’s Summer Warrior Trip will include the Centerville Saturday Night Lights Meet in Ohio and a day at Kings Island.
Tentative 2025 Meet Schedule:
2025 Meet ScheduleMost noteworthy date is the Louisville Classic on 10/3-4. We are the host school of the Louisville Classic and it is the second weekend of Fall Break. If at all possible, we would like athletes and families to make plans to be in town for the Louisville Classic.
Dead Period- June 25-July 9 (every year, same dates)- No team activities, no contact between coaches and athletes. Athletes are welcomed to meet together and communicate with one another. The Dead Period is always the same dates every year surrounding July 4th.
Youth Running Camp- July 14-16th- Our Eastern Cross Country Team hosts a Youth Running Camp at Eastern that usually has around 100 runners from elementary and middle school. Our athletes serve as the “camp counselors” and we will need a few parent volunteers to help throughout the week with check-in and supervision. For any parents who volunteer, younger siblings can attend camp for $20.
Youth Running Camp Registration Form:
2025 Eastern Youth Running Camp.pdfThere is no cost to our Eastern athletes (grades 9-12) and they do not need to register. We will assign duties the week before camp begins. Youth Camp is important for our team for many reasons; it is a great fundraiser, it helps us identify / develop leaders on our team, it helps develop our feeder system, and it is a great time for our team to be together and get to know each other better.
Middletown Mile Time Trials- July 17th- New this year, on the evening of July 17th we will host a time trial for all of our camp attendees and also our feeder schools. We will also have our Eastern athletes run a 1 mile time trial. This will be an early gauge of fitness for our athletes and will help us direct training during the summer.
Alumni & Community Run- August 2nd- A 2 mile Time Trial at Eastern for all of our athletes. We also invite back alumni and welcome family and community members to attend and participate.
Team Camp Day(s)- We will pick a few days in July that will serve as team-building and goal-setting days. We will extend a days practice from 8am through early afternoon. Dates and details TBD.
