We are less than 2 weeks away from the Louisville Classic Meet on October 4 & 5!!

Parents, if you are in town and able to help and have not yet signed up please claim a shift or 2 or 3 for next weekend. We need to have a good head count on how many positions are still open after all of our Eastern XC volunteers have signed up to determine how many additional volunteers we need from other groups (read also as how much of the revenue we will share with other groups).

We will partner with the Lou Sports Commission to host 2 days of races from Kindergarten to college athletes. It is a fun and fantastic weekend!! This is our BIGGEST fundraiser and we need YOU!! Please sign up for 1-2 shifts and invite friends or family!! You will get free admission and on Sat. we will have lunch (probably Chic Fil A) from the Sports Commission.

Every volunteer position is critical and we try to have as many hands as possible so that no one is overwhelmed. Our positions include:
Priority # 1. Parking — directing cars to spots quickly to keep the roads clear/avoid back up. Managing a large cross country meet is primarily about parking cars!
2. Admissions — taking money or clicking the ticket on the app and putting wristbands on guests
3. Course Management — Varies. You might be a turn guide pointing athletes to the next segment of the course, helping to keep the gravel path clear during a race, etc.
4. Finish Line — Having water cups ready, clipping shoe tags off runners, helping runners as they finish, etc
5. Packet Pick up — the command center for questions, coaches to get packets, volunteer check in ,etc.
6. Team Captain – one for each area; no experience necessary, but this is usually a veteran or someone familiar with the job/area can help other volunteers troubleshoot and direct.

Volunteers should dress in layers for the weather, wear sunscreen/hat etc and an Eastern t-shirt. It is also a good idea to bring a camp chair. We will have snacks and waters, but it never hurts to bring your own.
